Day 77: Zodiac

"Hey Bullitt, it's been a year, you gonna catch this fucking guy or not? "

I am on a David Fincher high, probably because I need to see his newest film (The Social Network).
Zodiac is by said director and is based on the non-fiction book about the Zodiac killer. For those not familiar with the Zodiac killer this is his story. Zodiac was a murderer who every time he killed someone HE would call the police and if that wasn't enough he would write letters to newspapers taunting them about his killings.
Through all this a cartoonist becomes obsessed with the Zodiac and eventually found the leading person of interest. Though the Zodiac could never be officially known this man was the leading suspect. The cartoonist, Robert Graysmith, wrote a book about this and it was then made into a movie. The book and the movie run to that plot line so that is as much detail as I will go into.

This film is not afraid to show the disturbing murders. When Zodiac shoots a couple in the beginning then goes to his car, reloads the gun and shoots them again, you know this guy is a freak. This film is very good, not Finchers' best, but still very good.

Directed with persistent desire to stay true to the book, which is likely to be (or predominantly in some scenes) the facts, Zodiac is a top notch thrill ride.
